In times like these it is easy to think that making and sharing art is silly. Frivolous. Tone - deaf. That it doesn’t compute with the chaos and crisis that is actively being inflicted on so many humans, animals, forests, oceans, and souls.
And then I remember that in a trauma-soaked, late-stage-capitialist world, creativity is activism. If amidst it all, like many many humans before us, we somehow still have the capacity in our nervous systems to MAKE instead of buy/squander/destroy, to SHARE instead of scheme/hoard/possess, to GROUND instead of react/numb/ignore then we are part of the resistance against scarcity and fear. If our nervous systems are too fried to do any of that but we TEND to ourselves the way we would a dear friend in need of care, then we are part of the resistance against brutality and severance from our spirits. We are part of building what comes next.
At least, this is what I believe and feel to be true in my bones.
Sending much MAKING, SHARING, GROUNDING, TENDING, and LOVE to you. Yes you. 🖤❤️🔥🖤
